Centra Academy
Centra Academy is CENTRA NL's entrepreneurship and professional development arm, dedicated to equipping Black business owners, entrepreneurs, and creatives with the tools, knowledge, and networks they need to succeed. Through workshops, mentorship sessions, and business resources, Centra Academy creates pathways for economic empowerment and sustainable growth within the Black community in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Centra Productions
Centra Productions is CENTRA NL's creative production wing, bringing powerful Black stories to life through theatre, film, and video series. From stage performances to original screen productions, Centra Productions creates space for Black artists to tell their stories authentically, build their craft, and reach wider audiences. Every production is a celebration of Black excellence, creativity, and cultural expression.
Black Owned Markets
The Black Owned Markets is CENTRA NL's flagship community event series, connecting Black entrepreneurs and vendors directly with customers across Newfoundland and Labrador. These vibrant, curated markets showcase the talent, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit of the Black community, from food and fashion to art, crafts, and services. Every market is a celebration of Black business and an opportunity to build lasting economic connections.
black theatre training program
The Black Theatre Training Program is CENTRA NL's dedicated initiative to nurture the next generation of Black theatre artists in Newfoundland and Labrador. Through intensive training, workshops, and mentorship from experienced practitioners, participants develop their skills in acting, directing, writing, and production. The program creates a safe, affirming space where Black artists can grow their craft, find their voice, and build a career in the performing arts.
Directing Workshop
The Directing Workshop is a focused, hands-on program designed for emerging directors looking to develop their craft and creative vision. Participants learn the fundamentals of stage and screen direction, from script analysis and actor communication to staging, blocking, and production management. Led by experienced industry professionals, the workshop provides practical experience and mentorship to help Black directors take their next step with confidence.
